How can grade 9 students prepare for final exams in 2021?

Ninth Grade has been carefully designed to help students smoothly transition, both academically and behaviorally, as well as to improve graduation rates. Research has shown that this year has a deep impact on every student’s academics, discipline, and attendance. But 2020 was a tough year for ninth graders across the country.

Last year was hard, to say the least. Doubly hard for school students who had to suddenly switch to learning completely online. From revision sessions to assignments, everything was digital. Teachers and parents struggled too, to track progress and analyse understanding of concepts.

In nearly four months, students who are currently in Grade 9, will be stepping into one of their most crucial years. In Grade 10, they will not only learn concepts that are essential and integral for their professional lives but will also have to face the board exams.

Why is grade 9 important?

Grade 9 is an important bridge year between middle and high school. It lays the foundation for the next three years of schooling. Most teachers too believe that Grade 9 is the make-or-break year for completing high school. Ever wondered why?

By this year, students are mature enough to make decisions regarding their career path that will shape the rest of their future. Even though the marks scored in Grade 9 are not counted towards the actual board exams results, most concepts are prerequisites for grade 10 and this clarity of concepts is vital in the long run.

Grade 9 is directly linked to Grade eleven. What is completely theoretical knowledge now, is strategically applied in various situations in Grade 11. On the other hand, there is a direct connection between the Grade ten and twelve syllabi too.

Both Grade 10 and 12 board exams are imperative and this interdependency between various grades makes Grade 9 extremely key and is considered a milestone year to help students decide their future course of action.

What can students do to run the last lap well?

Students Revision ClassesEnd of Year (EOY) i.e. final Exams are just around the corner. While many students have attended most of the online classes, due to various reasons like network issues or health concerns, many others have not been able to have a seamless learning experience during the lockdown.

This has been worrisome, but it is still not too late. Grade 9 students can still get ready for the upcoming exams in five simple steps:

1. Complete pending classes
A survey conducted across LEAD partner schools has revealed that there is a direct correlation between student attendance and performance. Go ahead and complete all your pending classes on the LEAD Student App today.

2. Watch revision classes

Watch and rewatch all the revision classes in order to get conceptual clarity and to build a strong foundation. This will help you perform better in the exams and apply these concepts in the future as well.

3. Use the revision guide
Key concepts are covered in a structured format in the LEAD revision guide. Use this as a learning tool and master concepts before your EOY exams.

4. Ask doubts

Do you have a lot of queries? Have you tried the ‘Ask Doubts’ feature on the Student App? Your teachers are just a click away, waiting to clarify all your doubts.

5. Complete pending quizzes

Quizzes are the simplest way to check your understanding. Attempt all the pending quizzes to know which concepts and areas you need to focus upon a little extra!

How is LEAD supporting students during this last lap?

All LEAD Powered Schools have technologically transformed themselves to provide their students a seamless, online-offline learning experience since the lockdown was imposed in March 2020.

Despite it being a harsh year emotionally and academically, teachers are continuing to raise the bar for Grade 9 students. They are setting higher expectations to ensure that both parents and students work extra hard during this last phase before the final examinations.

With summary classes, doubt clearing sessions, assessments, homework and remedials, LEAD is not only trying to push students to perform better in the EOY exams, but also ensuring complete conceptual clarity and a stronger footing.
