On March 16, 2020, the Indian Government declared indefinite closure of educational institutes owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. The academic year 2019-2020 was moving so well until everything screeched to a halt in March. The loss witnessed by the education sector remains unprecedented. COVID-19 has turned education at every level upside-down, inside-out. School Owners, in these circumstances, need to adapt and find solutions to keep children and teachers motivated.

COVID-19 pandemic in India is expected to cause a loss of over USD 400 billion in the country’s future earnings, besides substantial learning losses, according to a World Bank report.

Amid these circumstances, school owners have to give away the old and traditional modules and adopt ways that keep education not just buoyant but make it excellent too. Since the ongoing school closure is not for the short-haul, school owners have to look beyond seeking just an ‘interim relief’.

Online learning did fill in the void that was created by global school closure but it failed to serve students with quality learning. It failed to keep students engaged affecting their overall performance. Teachers too were not equipped to deal with such a transition at such short notice. School owners, post-school closures were in a fix to keep families and teachers happy. They kept devising ways to keep parents satisfied. While a few of those impressed parents, a lot of them failed to convince them leading to the cancellation of admissions in large numbers.

The mission of schools hasn’t changed, the delivery method did. Hence, the new delivery method not just has to meet the requirement of parents but should also ensure the least disruption. To combat this, school owners went beyond online learning and adopted an integrated learning management solution. This platform also facilitated hybrid learning, a ‘must-have’ aspect for schools today. With this mode, schools can continue to operate without any learning loss caused due to frequent interruptions.

How LEAD School saved owners and the admissions from plummeting

In a recent Case Study by LEAD School, LEAD Mangaon School managed to retain business and deliver strong student learning during the COVID adversity. The school has retained 84% of its students from last year and has admitted 17% new students to maintain the overall capacity. Students have attended 71% of all the online classes and have attended 80% of all the online tests and quizzes. They have scored an average of 70% on the online tests.

But how did LEAD School achieve this?

LEAD School partner schools help/train teachers to take online classes efficiently and keep students engaged during remote learning.

Besides this, at LEAD Mangaon School, school owners follow a 3-phase strategy to maintain the business in lockdown.

Strong and regular communication

  • Regular PT meets with parents
  • Regular parent town hall meetings to spread awareness that dropping the academic year can have severe consequences on the child’s learning
  • Share videos of students/parent testimonials via notices on LEAD Parent App

Engagement with content and materials

  • Have students send pictures of homework to teachers for correction.
  • Send the books directly to students’ homes rather than have them pick at school.
  • Regular feedback to parents on who/how many have attended the classes, finished homework, attempted quizzes.

Boost and showcase the learning

  • Call the students to solve their doubts and reply to the messages/inquiries instantly.
  • Showcase student results on WhatsApp chat groups showing learning and progress.

Just like LEAD Mangaon School, other LEAD affiliated schools have been able to achieve excellent learning even in the ongoing circumstances. All the aspects of traditional learning that comforted parents got replaced by an ‘even better’ mode of learning with ‘even better’ results. When excellent learning is assured, the number of admissions will soar. So despite the havoc that the ongoing calamity has created, schools can ensure excellent learning with better and assured results with LEAD School. Get maximum ROI and better admission with LEAD School.
