The Christian Matriculation Higher Secondary School was started as a kindergarten school in the year 1969. The school was shifted to the present premises acquired through court auction of the Annapoorna Ginning Factory whose owner graciously allowed the veranda to be used for conducting the school. Mr. E. J. John joined the school as its Principal in 1971. In 1974 the school was registered under the Christian English School society. In 1976 when class ten was started, the school was affiliated to the Board for ICSE examinations, New Delhi. The first batch of four students appeared for the classes X ICSE examination, and all of them passed with very good grades. In 1976 the name of the society was changed to Christian Education, Health and Development Society to bring in health and development activities also under it. In 1984 the school was converted from ICSE stream to Matriculation pattern and in 1986 it was upgraded into a Higher Secondary School. The school had consistently maintained high academic standards, including state ranks in the class X and XII level with many IAS officers, Politicians, engineers, medical professionals, and artists as alumni of this school. There are separate Boys and Girls hostels attached to the school.
