St. Thomas School is run by the Tuticorin Diocesan Association (Registered), an organization of the Catholic Diocese of Tuticorin. The Bishop, the Most Rev. Dr. A. Stephen, who is the President of the Association, is also the Patron and Manager of the School. The Catholic Diocese of Tuticorin, besides taking care of the pastoral needs of the three and a half lakh Catholic faithful, has also involved itself in the service of the socio-economic development of the people of the Tuticorin Diocese irrespective of religion or caste. The diocese has been running hospitals, homes for the aged and the underprivileged, training centers for women and the marginalized, and other such institutions. Education being an important instrument for social change, the diocese also runs more than 250 educational institutions. St. Thomas School is one of the latest self–financed schools of the diocese. It is the new arm of the St. Thomas Group of Institutions. The motto of the school is “Arise and Shine”, taken from the book of Prophet Isaiah (60:1) of the Holy Bible. Accordingly, the students are expected to enrich themselves with an all-around development to serve society, to be the “light of the world’ (Mt 5:14). The school urges the students to be socially aware and contribute their best to build a more equal and just society in India.
