Which Software Programs are Typically Used by Teachers?

The education field is undergoing a rapid transformation, especially in the school segment. Technology-based education previously was either considered supplementary or only restricted to top metro cities. With digital becoming the new normal, more and more schools and teachers have started adopting technology in various areas in their day-to-day functioning.

Here are a few school management software programs that are typically used by teachers:

1. Course management software

Traditional schooling comprised mainly of teachers teaching from textbooks and writing on blackboards, while students taking down notes. Homework used to be assigned on the board or dictated by teachers. This is not the most efficient way of learning. This is because there are multiple loopholes in this process. First, taking down notes is not equivalent to learning. Second, even if the teacher dictated or wrote down the homework on the blackboard, it doesn’t mean that every student noted it down or even remembers completing it and bringing it the next day to the class. This is where integrated school management software can be beneficial. Integrated software will integrate all the learning material and corresponding assignments in one place. For example, at LEAD Powered Schools, a teacher need not manually assign homework to students. The moment the teachers mark the day’s lesson plan as complete, homework is automatically assigned to students. The teacher can also track how many students have completed the homework and check the homework using the Teacher Tablet through a feature known as iHomework.

2. Communication tools

Before the pandemic induced online schooling, parent-teacher meetings were the only main source of parent-teacher interaction. With the pandemic, both parents, students, and teachers became more comfortable with online communication platforms like WhatsApp or even email. However, communicating over these platforms can be less effective as they are general messaging platforms. Messages can easily get lost in the multitude of groups that we are a part of, and some parents or students might get to shy to share messages in groups. If the school has integrated school management software, teachers and parents get dedicated communication tools to interact with each other. For example, at LEAD Powered Schools, the Student App also has a parent section that allows parents to keep up to date with their child’s learning progress. They also can stay in touch with the teachers. Through regular parent-teacher meetings, parents become an involved part of their child’s progress. Student App has features like Ask Doubts, that allow students to ask doubts to their teacher through the app itself. They need not worry about feeling shy in front of the class or hesitating to ask simple questions.

3. Smartboards

Smartboards are becoming more and more popular due to their immense benefits. Even if a classroom doesn’t have a smartboard, they at least have a smart TV to supplement the regular board teaching method. An interactive smartboard, also known as an electronic whiteboard, is a classroom tool that allows the content on computers to be displayed onto a classroom board using a digital projector. The teacher or a student can “interact” with the images directly on the screen using a tool or even a finger.

A smartboard basically integrates an interactive whiteboard, central control system, amplifier system, wireless microphone, and so on. You can use a smartboard without a computer. If you are looking out for an integrated school management software, check if they provide a smart TV or a smart board along with it.

Teachers are increasingly embracing the new-age software and technology to improve their teaching effectiveness. Whether it’s using audio-visual content, smart boards or technology-based assessments, the teaching efficacy of teachers is bound to improve with the smart use of technology. At LEAD Powered Schools, we empower teachers with the latest edtech solutions, regular training and development, and access to a large network of teachers. This helps them become Super Teachers who can drive excellent student learning outcomes.

LEAD’s school management software is integrated software that helps all school stakeholders manage their functions effectively and together work towards providing excellent education to students.
