How does LEAD’s pre-primary school curriculum work?
LEAD’s pre-primary curriculum is an integrated theme-based curriculum that follows a multi modal approach to ensure holistic development of children.
It is benchmarked with NEL Singapore and is in line with NCERT pre-school curriculum.
In pre-primary, we focus on six learning areas:
1. Environment Sciences
2. Language and Literacy
4. Motor skills development
5. Aesthetics and creative expression
6. Social and emotional development
All these learning areas are integrated to help the child build strong foundational skills.
What makes LEAD's approach unique for Pre-primary students?
At LEAD, the learning experience is integrated as a whole. In all the lessons, knowledge and skills are linked together so that students can build a deeper understanding of the concepts.
Children in these age groups learn by playing, listening to stories, doing activities, exploring, and creating.
The thematic approach helps children apply their learning to other subjects and in their day-to-day life.
Multi Modal Delivery
The concepts are taught using multiple methods and resources. This helps children stay engaged in the learning process as different senses are used to help children build connections to learning.
Pre-primary pedagogy constitutes of six primary components
Young children learn best in an active hands-on environment. The morning routine helps the child settle down as they begin their day. It also helps them become better decision-makers, build relationships with their peers, and develop responsible behaviour.
Theme time gives children an opportunity to explore and build a deeper understanding of EVS topics. It is done through various hands-on activities, creating models, projects, experiments, external visits, exploration, and interviews.
In literacy, we cover various sections like reading, writing, phonics, sight words, speaking and listening every day. This helps the child to develop strong language skills.
It helps the child analyse and apply the concepts of numeracy using the concrete, pictorial, and abstract approach.
It introduces them to the world of music, dance, art, and craft. With the help of visual art and performing art, the child learns to express themselves creatively. It also helps them learn to perform confidently in front of an audience.
Physical & Yoga
It is a way to develop physical and mental well-being. Different activities help the child develop their gross motor skills, and fine motor skills are covered during this time.
