Live virtual classroom, bringing life to learning

To mitigate the potentially devastating consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, governments and stakeholders shifted to online classes in the form of the live virtual classroom. In addition, strengthening the resilience of education systems empowers countries to reopen schools and cope with future crises better safely.

Online learning alone is not enough to battle the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Parents have also been highly sceptical about the reliability of online learning and if it’s enough to cater to their 21st-century kids and their needs. This reluctance has led to high student dropout rates causing irreparable damage to the children’s future.

Live virtual classroom powered by integrated solutions is the answer to the modern-day problems of the education sector. The need for including technology in schools was felt, even before the pandemic; however, pandemic triggered it. Students can view, communicate, interact, discuss various topics in a virtual classroom, and have a one-to-one session with their instructor.

Let’s look at some of the irrefutable benefits of a live virtual classroom:

  • Expedited learning

Learning through textbooks has been extremely tiring for students, and it took months to understand a topic. Moreover, it was a task for teachers to make a topic interesting while teaching from the textbooks. On the other hand, a live virtual classroom opens various avenues through which learning can be conducted using engaging resources like audio-visual, images, animations, graphs, etc.

  • Enhanced convenience

Virtual learning is flexible, and students can attend classes from anywhere. On the days they miss their classes, they can go back to the recordings and learn. Even while revising, if they are stuck somewhere, they can go back to the instructions and revise until they hone a concept. When there is less pressure on children, they learn better.

  • Honed digital skills

Many things that students traditionally learn at schools might go pointless in the digital age. That’s why the relevance of virtual classes is more apt now than ever. While learning, the student also hones digital skills essential to excel today and in the future.

  • Immediate feedback and remedial

Unlike traditional classrooms, a live virtual classroom helps teachers find students’ learning gaps and address that on time to stop them from widening.

  • Develop modern-day skills

Virtual classrooms also help students to learn skills beyond mathematics and science. For example, technology has made learning skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, persistence, collaboration and curiosity, easy.

Expanding on the above point of view, UNICEF says, “Foundational skills such as the ability to read, write and do math are key. But equally important are transferable skills – such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving – which help learners adapt to dynamic labour markets, work collaboratively with others, and respond to global or local challenges.”

How is LEAD helping schools in India to deliver excellent education?

All classrooms get converted into smart classrooms through a smart tv and a teacher excellence kit with LEAD. So instead of a few smart classrooms, every class gets enabled for visual learning. At LEAD, an academic year is divided into units, and units further are divided into a day plan. The number of units and several day plans are designed keeping in mind the need for each sub-school, that is, pre-primary, primary, middle, high and ELGA.

At LEAD, a teacher uses a tablet that includes detailed lesson plans, audio-visual resources, soft copy books, and activities where they explain the concepts to students through activity or a video, followed by group practice in small groups to practice the concept followed by the individual practice where students answer questions on the concept on their own. This concentric circle design allows teachers that every child has understood the concept.

Lastly, LEAD ensures excellent learning that helps students develop into:

  •   Capable adults
  •   Responsible citizens
  •   Good human beings
