Education based on Student Learning Outcomes is the need of the hour
Student Learning Outcomes ensure that children advance to the next level only when they have mastered the current level so they can learn deeply and apply their knowledge.
Student learning outcomes are indicators that tell what a student should know and be able to do after completing an assignment, class, course, or program. Identifying learning outcomes is essential to ensure students benefit from the lessons rather than just sitting through classes. Student learning outcomes are designed to be observable and measurable.
NEP focuses strongly on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN). Clear goals in terms of learning outcomes have been defined in the document on FLN (the document is called “NIPUN Bharat”; released in 2021, it is one of the first position papers released as per NEP).
These outcomes (examples given below) need to be met by 2026-27 for grade 3. At LEAD, our Learning Outcomes (LOs) are already aligned with the new LOs released in the NIPUN Bharat document.

Learning outcomes give a clear idea of whether or not students have fully understood the concepts taught. Teachers can also plan lessons accordingly and make any changes if required to ensure that students achieve what they are supposed to.
Here are some examples of student learning outcomes as enlisted in the NIPUN Bharat Document: Identifies few rhyming words, Recognizes different body parts and uses various body movements, Compares and classifies objects/pictures based on multiple factors and describes them using properties, Read and write numbers up to 999, etc.
While there are many strategies to improve student learning outcomes, here are some key ones:
NIPUN Bharat has enlisted 3 developmental goals for integrated and holistic development.
Goal 1: Children maintain good health and well being
Goal 2: Children become effective communicators
Goal 3: Childern become involved learners and connect with their immediate environment
By Grade 3 the learning goal of the numeracy mission is that the child is able to Read and write numbers up to 9999 and Solve simple multiplication problems
